Boundaries. Festering Irritation. Vampires Be-Gone.
Planetary Associations: Mars, Saturn & Pluto
This essence helps us to address persistent irritation and to see and feel what is “beneath the surface”, locating the source of a trigger when they sneak up on us. On the physical front, this desert plant only rears its head in Spring when Winter conditions were wet and “just so” for its growth. Unassuming, tiny and adorable, Scorpionweed when touched actually produces a nasty sting and itch similar to Poison Ivy and Poison Oak. The oils of the plant enter the skin through tiny spines and when scratched, spread beneath the surface. Many teachings come up with this visualization—feel into what is streaming “between the lines” for you and what “itch” you are trying to scratch. What curiosity might have gotten you into trouble? Where might you have overstepped a boundary? Or where has someone else impeded upon yours? Who or what is sucking on your energy?
What Scorpionweed wishes to express is that things left unattended can fester and then boil up when we don’t address them. Keeping boundaries at the forefront of our awareness helps us to care for ourselves in a way that preserves our energy, helping us to respond instead of react to our circumstances. There is a special quality of Scorpionweed that really helps us to “put the nail in the coffin” and lay to rest that which has plagued or haunted us. This is especially helpful for feuds, arguments, “grudgey” energy and any vibration that has taken up space in our fields without “paying rent.” Scorpionweed is great for any circumstance that isn’t in reciprocity, that feels naggingly vampiric and where you are needing a boost to clear out some shit.
